OLF ALLIANCE WITH..

The recent alliance of OLF with the Abyssinian came with no surprise to us. For the last 20 years, FIDO has been following the position of OLF leadership with interest and finally unfolding as expected. FIDO has been examining the gravity of OLF's involvement with Abyssinian organization for sometimes and specifically after 1991. Noting OLF's intense involvement with the founder of the Abyssinian colonial institution and its engagement in the process to destruct the limited achievement the people of Oromia has secured as a result of their struggle.

OLF's confession to depart from the central and core ideology of liberating Oromia and its alliance with Abyssinian is nothing but pursue the notion that is contrary to the will of the people. It is safe to say, no one will argue that OLF has abandoned the path of liberation and accepted the democratization of Ethiopia. Having said that, FIDO is distancing itself from OLF as long as it has alliance with the enemy of the people of Oromia and calling upon the people of Oromia not to be deceived by these new waves of alliance that is striving to bring back the old neftanya system.

In principle, FIDO supports and respects the right of Oromo organizations to form alliances and relations with friendly and like organizations such as Ogaden, Sidama and other oppressed peoples. However, it does not support alliance with any enemy organizations such as CUD which does not recognize the existence of the Oromo people, its culture and its territorial integrity.

The current Ethiopian regime has been advocating the notion of one Ethiopia since 1991, and that view was completely rejected by the people of Oromia. Is it not the current uprise in Oromia witness the failure of this concept and such a policy?

Similarly, late last year OLF tried to forge alliance with EPRDF but that alliance failed to materialize. OLF has now found a new friend CUD. FIDO believes such an alliance should not be viewed as a Tsunami type shock since such alliance will not last long.

It should be clear to every men and women and people of Oromia, OLF's alliance with CUD does not change the chemistry (chauvinist group) of this organization and it does not make them any different whatsoever. Such alliance will not dwindle the Liberation forces, but it will strengthen the Oromo forces to continue struggling against the Abyssinian domination until Independent Democratic Oromia is achieved, but our struggle is not against any individual or race but against the system.

We say to the people of Oromia and the Oromo forces, we are starting a new chapter and the way-out is that all Oromo forces must be united by deeds, not words and stick to their policies like firm rocks and not shift like quicksands. We say to the people of Oromia and Oromo forces, this is not the time for looking backward irrespective of what happened. It is time we should look forward with faith and high hope and this is the time for us to be united and take a common action to defeat the enemy.

We say to the heroic people of Oromia and the Oromo forces, this alliance with the devil, by no means would frustrate the liberation camp but it will rather sharpen our focus. But this alliance is a reminder for Oromo liberation forces to be vigilant and to keep all wolves in sheep clothing out of their organizations. What we learn from this event is the need for all Oromo organizations to spell out their political views and what they stand for. There are no more cross roads, no more hallucination and there is no more aimlessness in our outlook. We also like to remind the Oromo forces that the strengths of Oromo liberation camp depend on the strengths of every individual political organization.

FIDO believes that by forming an alliance with the devil, OLF has ousted itself from the bilisumma camp and has joined the enemy camp. We do not have any doubt that the honey moon between OLF and CUD will soon be over as such alliance will not last long. However, the scar this alliance leaves, the confusion it creates and the long term damage this alliance will cause to the people of Oromia who have paid in their blood is yet to be determined.

Last, but not least, FIDO will not tolerate any ideological friendship with chauvinists who do not have respect for our people and culture, it calls upon all Oromo forces to be united because the destiny of Oromia is at stake. .
